Registration is now open for the 7th Annual Conference on DNA, Health and Biotechnological Topics being held on the campus of Bridgewater State University.  The event will take place on Thursday, March 1, 2012, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

 

This year's conference theme is the  Interdisciplinary Approach to Human Health.   As in previous years, it is designed to bring together participants from higher education, K-12 education, the biotechnology industry, the health professions and the general public.

 

We are very pleased to announce the keynote address: Epigenetics:  An Introduction by Robert O. Wright, MD MPH, Associate Professor of Pediatrics & Environmental Health, Harvard Medical School and School of Public Health.

 

Dr. Wright will give an overview of Epigenetics and how it relates to genetics.  The conference will also include a variety of exciting workshops:

 

Ø  Does this drug work?  Clinical trials and drug development

Ø  Obdurate Realities and a Sustainable Health System

Ø  Sequencing? Teach Proteins before DNA!

Ø  Do It Yourself Biotech Equipment: Building and Using Homemade Biotech Equipment

Ø  PCR in the High School Classroom

Ø  HPV and Cancer:  What You May Not Know …….

A registration fee of $10.00 (cash or check payable to "Bridgewater State University”) will be collected at the door.

 

Classroom teachers who attend the conference will receive Certificates of Participation that can then be applied toward PDP’s.
